The free-agent forward agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
Kuminga is expected to come in and start alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert on a new-look Minnesota squad.
He became a free agent this off-season when the Atlanta Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option.
Kuminga was acquired by the Hawks from the Golden State Warriors at last season’s trade deadline. In 16 games with Atlanta, he averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 46.3 per cent shooting.
The 23-year-old entered the NBA with loads of potential after the Warriors selected him seventh overall in the 2021 draft. However, Kuminga struggled in Steve Kerr’s system and eventually fell out of the rotation.
