Maple Leafs acquire forward Aatu Raty in trade with Canucks

Aatu Raty was acquired by Toronto from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Brandon Buhr and Jacob Quillan, the team announced Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, Raty cleared waivers to seemingly remain in the Vancouver organization, but ended up getting dealt to the Maple Leafs instead.

The 23-year-old forward has struggled to start the season. He has scored one goal over four games and was a healthy scratch for Vancouver’s first two games of the season. The Finn was scratched again on Tuesday for the Canucks’ game against the New York Islanders.

Last season, the second-round pick had four goals and 10 assists over 66 games.

The Canucks acquired Raty, forward Anthony Beauvillier and a conditional draft pick from the New York Islanders in exchange for Bo Horvat in January 2023.

Raty won a Calder Cup championship with Abbotsford in 2025.

He was originally a second-round pick (52nd overall) of the New York Islanders in the 2021 NHL Draft.
